The Minnesota Division of Statewide Testing recognizes the need for high-quality professional staff development in Minnesota's assessment program. Join educators from around the state at conference sessions that focus on a wide range of assessment topics and network with your peers on testing issues important to your district. D8 - Deep Viewing: "Reading" and Creating Visual Texts
A10 - Improving ELA Outcomes with WriteToLearn
Session will provide an overview of WriteToLearn, a fully automated online literacy tool for building writing skills and developing reading comprehension. With WriteToLearn, students practice their essay and summary writing skills and expand their vocabulary. As students submit responses, they receive immediate and personalized instructional feedback to encourage and reward progress. (Complimentary access for all 8th and 10th grade students)
B10 - Homeless Flag: Definition and outcomes
With a recent emphasis on accuracy in flagging students experiencing homelessness and reporting on outcomes for students experiencing homelessness, we will explore the McKinney-Vento legal definition of homelessness, discuss the application of the homeless flag to a variety of living situations, and examine outcomes for students experiencing homelessness.
C10 - Data Visualizations and Graphs: From Excel Defaults to Excellence (Same as D2 - Ticketed Session)
In this hands-on session participants will learn how to convert graphs from Excel's defaults to graphs that utilize data visualization best practices.
D8 - 2016 Results of The English Language Arts Standards and MTSS Implementation Survey
The 2016 Implementation Survey results are in and ready to be digested. In this session MDE will present school, district, and state level results. Participants will participate in a demonstration of how to action plan with school and district level reports. Also learn how to use the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Community of Practice to network with other implementers across the state. We will also preview a systems fidelity measure for reading and math that is currently in usability testing.

Registration after July 21 will be strictly on a space-available basis for $100 per person. Fees include tuition, instructional materials, lunch and refreshment breaks. Payment methods are credit card, check (payable to GTS Educational Events) and purchase order. You can print a copy of your invoice when you complete your online registration. If payment is not received before the conference, a $25 fee will be added to the follow-up invoice. Make your payment selection via the online registration system OR on the registration form. Sharing of registration is prohibited.
