Audience: Particularly valuable for those who have a basic understanding of Shoreland development issues and are looking for practical strategies to address them.

Presented in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources

This program is a “how to” workshop, with everything from setting up your comp plan/ordinances, to site evaluation/design principles with real life examples, to administration and enforcement of easements and covenants.

Topics include:

  • Update on new rules
  • The science of shoreland protection: Why care?
  • Knowing what you have: Analyzing your community’s resources with tools such as natural resource inventories, GIS overlays
  • Planning and protection tools for shoreland protection
  • Conservation design concepts and tools
  • Low impact development concepts, principles and practices
  • Implementing the concept: The Cass County case study
