A diverse and experienced array of experts from inside and outside the legal community will address the “need to know” aspects of a variety of hot topics during Friday’s general sessions which include:

  • Employment Case Law Update including issues related to contracting vs. independent employee status
  • Problem properties
  • Use of public Right of Way

Once again, choice has been included in this year’s conference agenda. After lunch, attendees can select to participate in one of two concurrent sessions:

  • Session #1—Gas & Electric Franchising Issues and a briefing on recent Statements of Position from Minnesota State Auditor Rebecca Otto and her staff
  • Session #2—Criminal Law Update with timely information regarding vehicle forfeitures, dangerous dogs, domestic violence & the Freedom to Breath Act

Saturday morning will begin with what is sure to be an interesting and practical session focusing on what every City Attorney needs to know about parliamentary procedure and Roberts Rules of Order. The session will be lead by mediator, parliamentarian and arbitrator, Thomas Gmeinder, who asks attendees to bring questions and meeting observations to help provide a lively session. The remainder of the morning will focus on timely land use and zoning issues.
